Get to Know #ThePreachers: Pastor John Gray

Published on

Cincinnati native John W. Gray III heeded the call to the ministry at the young age of 21, and throughout his life, God has opened doors and allowed Gray to serve while utilizing the gifts of music, comedy and preaching.

From directing and producing award-winning films to releasing two musical albums, a comedy DVD and multiple TV appearances, Gray is determined to use every gift God has given him to build the Kingdom of God and bless people. He’s toured in a stage play alongside Grammy Award®–winning gospel artist Kirk Franklin and participated in a musical tour with the stated purpose of eliminating racism and creating equality in the Body of Christ. It was clear to Gray that God wanted him to be a bridge builder and that comedy would be a great way to bring together people from all walks of life.

A highly sought-after speaker, Gray has traveled the world sharing the Gospel in his unique and uncompromising way. From South Africa to Australia and many places in between, Gray has ministered to youth, young adults, entire churches, conferences and camps to say one thing in many ways: Jesus saves, and He loves you with an everlasting love!

Gray is quick to acknowledge the joys of his life are his wife, Aventer; their son, John W. Gray IV; and their daughter, Theory Aspyn-Sky. He currently serves as an Associate Pastor at Lakewood Church in Houston, under the leadership of Pastor Joel Osteen. Wherever God takes John here and in the future, he is determined to serve with passion, humility and power.

To this day, Gray continues to defy description and labels by seamlessly integrating worship, laughter, preaching, exhortation and encouragement into one package.
